Vertrical started as a group of like-minded Software Engineers who wanted to create a growing start-up that specialized in understanding the Digital Health sector intimately. Our goal is to craft solid and highly scalable software. Our development process is 100% success driven, and we thrive on new and edgy tasks in the fields of Data Science, Data Security, DevOps, Front and Backend Engineering in web, desktop, or mobile solutions.
We are not in the business of just being another software company, but also a fantastic workplace. Being freedom-oriented and appreciative has been our corporate culture from the very beginning and the basis of all our actions.

We're an international company with people from all around the globe, so please use English.

We tailor the process to each position. This could mean that you may have only one (longer) interview and you are hired, or you may have 2 interviews along with a challenge before a decision is made. Each position and process is unique, therefore we could even take a different approach in trying to find the right fit. One thing is clear though, whatever process we decide it will be used for all candidates who apply for that position.
So what happens when you apply?
We will send you an automated email, informing you that we have received your application. Next, we review and provide feedback where we see fit. We will try to be as quick as possible and get back to you within 3 days. If selected, the next steps will vary depending on the position, but regardless you will receive an invitation- now it could be for a 30 minute pre screen, a 60 minutes personal interview or even a full 90 minutes interview it all just depends! One thing to remember is that we are a 100% remote company, and all of your interviews will be online with the camera on.
After all the interviews are completed, we will then internally discuss and notify you either way. We know that not all news is good news, but we hope that even if things don’t go the way you want, you will still keep in touch and who knows our paths would cross again!

It’s just that, personal. We want to learn about YOU, not your CV! So we have this interview to find out what is important to you, and if it's a good fit for BOTH of us. Check out below what to expect:
We start off with introductions, where you’re from, what you like to do, and some fun facts about you. The key is to keep it short and sweet.
The interviewers introduce themselves to you and ask you to do the same afterwards.
Next you learn a little about Vertrical, who WE are, what’s important to the US and what we stand for.
Now comes the fun stuff, the questions! Be as open as you want to be, there is no wrong or right answer. Also know you don’t have to answer anything you don’t feel comfortable answering and we can always circle back to any questions if you need more time. :)
Lastly, we give you the mic! It’s your turn to ask US any questions you may have about our process, the job, or even just US
*FUN FACT* We take pride in our comparison and keeping an even playing field when it comes to interviews. All questions are the same for each interview kit which then allows for a fair opportunity for everyone and gives us a more solid approach to making cultural decisions.

The technical interview aims to assess your technical and job-relevant skills. Now this is where it’s your time to shine with specific knowledge and expertise.
Here is what you can expect:
The interviewers (if they are new to you) will introduce themselves to you and you will then be asked to give a brief description of your job experience and expertise, but don’t lose yourself in too many details… We have a much more fun way to assess your skills! .
Now you will get information about Vertrical and the department you’ll be working in, and then the interview begins!
We have prepared job-relevant questions that aim to assess your skills and level of experience. Although there’s obviously a right answer to the questions, we are open to different approaches and want to assess your way of thinking and handling situations.. Remember, you are not disqualified if you don’t know the answer to a question, we’d rather you be honest than try to falsify your skill set.
At the end, we will allow for any job-related questions you may have.
*DID YOU KNOW* : We use the same interview kit for every candidate? Similar to our personal interview we want to have a fair comparison and chance for each candidate. This approach allows us to make an honest and solid decision While giving you a structured and transparent interview.

First of all, we want you to be yourself, relax and enjoy the time we have together. Easier said than done right? ;) Really though, we want you to enjoy our interview processes. We consider it rather unique and therefore we are open to embracing everyone!
For the personal interview there’s really nothing you could prepare as it rather to get to know you better as a person. Now as for the technical interview, of course you can brush up your expertise, just be ready to dive deep into your skill set and less on your work history.

Well the commute is great! 😉 Working 100% remotely has a lot of attractive features, you have the flexibility to schedule your own hours (within reason) and create a personal work environment where you can thrive. However, you may think that it can get lonely too and that you won’t know your colleagues as well as in an office, but you’d be surprised. We have found a way to all work well together despite the great distance. ). We have great communication tools that help us stay connected, whether it be digital “workathons”, monthly town halls or even fun holiday events we make sure to stay in touch regularly.

Opt for professional attire during our virtual interviews, reflecting what you'd wear to an in-person office interview. Be comfortable, confident, and let your unique style shine through the screen!

We value everyone's time, that’s why it is important to us that we learn as much as we can about each other without wasting it. This also allows you to share information that might not be on your CV and for us to find out if this could be a good fit. If you find that our questions are too much, it could be a good indicator that we may not be meant for each other. 🥲
